Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday imposed the restriction on the number of guests at weddings and functions related to them.
This new measure to curb misuse of resources and essential commodities will come into effect from 1st April, 2017.
According to the statement issued by Department of Food, Civil Engineering and Consumer Affairs, the restrictions is imposed after it received complaints regarding “injudicious use of essential commodities and extravagant expenditures being made in both private and public functions’’.
According to the news published in Zee News, the official order states, “The number of guests to be invited for the marriage of daughter (barat) and marriage of son should be restricted to a maximum of 500 and 400 people respectively. Only 100 people should be invited to attend like engagements and other small functions”.
