Govt Implementing 11 Welfare Schemes for Construction Workers–Nayani

Stating that the Telangana Government is committed for welfare of building and other construction workers, the Minister for Home and Labour N Narasimha Reddy said the Government is implementing eleven welfare schemes for them.

In reply to questions in the State Assembly today, the Minister said that one month special drive was taken up during September this year for enrolment of building and other construction workers, issue of I D cards, identification of building and construction establishments, Cess collection, safety and health measures.

Toddy Tappers Welfare

The Minister for Prohibition and Excise, T. Padma Rao said that the Telangana Government is committed to help the families of toddy tappers who died while climbing the tree.

Replying to questions in the Legislative Assembly today, he said the Government has sanctioned the pending dues of Rs.28.25 lakh towards payment of ex-gratia for toddy tappers in May this year and another equal amount in September. He said that the ex-gratia for those who died and those who suffered permanent disability after falling from trees, was enhanced from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh. The Government has enhanced the monthly pension f to the toddy tappers from Rs.200 to Rs.1000 per month to those who have crossed 50 years of age and unable to climb a tree, the Minister added. (NSS)
