Hyderabad: The TRS Government came in for severe criticism from the Opposition in the State Assembly for it termed as utter failure to fill up the existing job vacancies and thus “cheating” the unemployed youth of providing needed employment after formation of Telangana State.
The issue cropped up during question hour when TDP member R. Krishnaiah wanted to know the number of posts vacant and for how many how many posts notifications were issued for filling up.
Finance Minister Etela Rajender assured agitated Opposition members that the state government would take all measures to fill up the existing vacancies within one month. Earlier the minister revealed that nearly two lakh posts were vacant and the government had issued orders for filling up 1q84234 direct recruitment vacancies out which notifications were issued for 14789 vacancies.
The Finance Minister further explained that over 3000 vacancies in RTC were filled up and so also 4500 posts in Singareni collieries were filled up. The Telangana Government had in fact created over 16000 new posts within 20 months besides regularizing contract employees and also ensuring a minimum salary of Rs.15000 to the out sourcing employees.
The state government was committed to its promise of providing employment to the unemployed by filling up the vacancies within in one month, he added.
Krishnaiah lamented that there were thousands of posts were vacant in the education sector and wanted the government to ensure these are filled up at the earliest especially the vacant teachers posts. Congress leaders including Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the government to “cheating” the youth by promising to provide employment to the jobless youth and enticed them to taker part in the Telangana movement. But after the new state was formed these promises were forgotten, he charged to which the treasury benches protested and counter that during the 10 year rule of the Congress the youth were left in the lurch as the government had not filled up any vacant post.
