Andhra Pradesh Information Technology and Communications Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah today reiterated that the Congress government was giving top priority to sports in the state. Participating in the concluding programme of AP Rope Skipping Competitions, he said the government had allotted more funds towards sports as part of encouraging and proving infrastructure facilities in the rural areas to tap the rural talent.
Apart from constructing sports stadia in mandal quarters, the government had made compulsory sports hour in the schools as part of policy decision, he added. In the Rope Skipping Championships, the West Godavari district emerged as overall champion in the State. The Minister awarded the prizes to winners. UNI
