Jaipur, May 28: The Udaipur police has arrested three men, including a research and training co-coordinator of Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Finance and Development Corporation, on charges of drugging and gang-raping a social development officer (SDO) of the corporation.
The 28-year-old victim had gone to Udaipur from Jaipur for a slum area survey when the accused allegedly gangraped her in a hotel while she was unconscious.
According to the police, the rape took place in Sri Ji Hotel in Dhanmandi police station area of Udaipur.
The accused – coordinator Pushpendra Kumar and two employees of the Corporation – Hari Om and Ajay – were staying in the hotel. All of them are in their mid thirties.
“The victim is posted as the corporation’s Jaipur officer. After the survey of some slums, the three called her to the hotel on the pretext of filling up forms on Wednesday night. She went there and was offered a cold drink. She fell unconscious after drinking it,” said Rajesh Sharma, in-charge of Dhanmandi police station.
He added the unmarried victim woke up the next day and realised she was raped.
“When she threatened that she would report the matter to the police, they thrashed her and warned her not to approach the police. Nevertheless, she came to the police station and made her complaint in writing,” the officer said.
He added a medical examination proved that she was gang-raped.
A team was rushed to the hotel and the trio was arrested.
“We produced them in a court on Friday. They have been remanded for two days. We will interrogate them. Further probe is on,” the officer said.
