Govt faulted for not inviting women of other parties to Bathukamma fete

Former Mayor B Karthika Reddy today took serious exception to the TRS Government for taking unilateral decision of not extending invitations to noted women leaders to celebrate Bathukamma festival.
Talking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, the former Mayor faulted the officials for not following protocol. So far, no GHMC corporator received invitation for Bathukamma festival, she said. She also said only the Chief Minister KCR’s daughter TRS MP Kavitha was given priority and invited for the event in all the districts while other women of various political parties were ignored. This can well be attributed to the partisan attitude of the government, she charged.
The former Mayor also asked the government how it was spending Rs 10 crore allotted for the festival. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Ministers and officials should explain on this, she said. When the festival is being celebrated across the State and Hyderabad, local women leaders from all parties and organizations should have been invited, she said and alleged that the TRS government has conveniently forgotten leaders, corporators and others for the event.
