Govt to establish Permanent mechanism for energy conservation

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Ms Minnie Mathew has said that the state government have decided to establish permanent mechanism to achieve the expected huge energy savings through energy conservation.

As part it, the state government is seriously thinking to involve all key departments like Energy, MA and UD, Agricultural and Co-operation, Industries, Panchayat Raj, to achieve the targets of energy conservation, which is one of the main options. Never in the history of recent times, Andhra Pradesh power sector has faced such major challenges of meeting the abnormal demand and severe fuel crisis which ultimately forced the state to undergo power cuts and restrictions. Disclosing these details, Ms Minnie Mathew, during the teleconference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency (EC&E) measures held yesterday evening with Energy Principal Secretary M Sahoo, CMD/APTRANSCO Hiralal Samariya, CMDs of DISCOMs G Anantha Ramu, Ahmed Nadeem, Ch Narasimha Reddy and K V S Reddy, stated that the Government was very keen to make the energy conservation and efficiency programs successful by initiating all possible steps like implementation of Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT), Demand Side Management (DSM) measures, Energy audit, promotion of nonconventional energy sources, utilization of solar water heaters, star rated appliances, usage of fans rather than A.Cs, replacement of Incandescent Lamps (ICLs) with Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) and Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and allowing natural light, a release said here today. Chief Secretary also directed concerned heads of the Depts. to strictly implement the GOs like GO Rt No 132 and 133 issued for implementation of EC&E programmes. UNI
