Govt to encourage sportspersons: Padma Rao

Hyderabad: Sports & Excise Minister T. Padma Rao Goud today got a warm welcome at Shamshabad airport on his return from Rio Olympics representing Telangana fetching a silver medal won by PV Sindhu. TRS leaders and people of his constituency gave the minister a rousing reception with garlands as his tour to Brzail remained a success by a medal.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister maintained that his tour to the Rio Olympics gave him much impetus on conducting of sports at international level. “During my tour with officials concerned, we focused on the policies, plan and management of such great events which was attended many nations and thousands of sportspersons”, the minister said.
Praising PV Sindhu for making India proud in general and Telangana in particular, sharing his experiences for lifetime, Padma Rao Goud stated that the tour made them aware of the elaborate arrangements and careful planning for the athletic coaches, sports lovers and others. “It is great to witness at international arena the winning spree of our sportspersons like Sindhu clinching silver in Badminton, Sakshi winning bronze in wrestling and Deepa Karmakar in Gymnastics”, he added.
With the same spirit, the State government will focus on giving required training with skills to take on others to win world level sports events, the minister remarked. (NSS)
