Govt did not promise jobs to RYK trained youth: CM

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday stated that the State Government never promised employment to those who underwent training in the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu programme.

Talking to media persons after participating in the Indiramma Baata programme in the East Godavari district, he said that the government would provide training to the unemployed youth to enhance their skills under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu programme. He said that the training would help the unemployed to increase their chances of getting employment. Stating that even 10th class pass candidates were considering working in the agriculture profession as a waste, he said that those who qualified for both VAO/VRO posts were highly educated.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he would hold discussions with the Centre over including the weavers’ profession in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to increase employment opportunities for them. Responding to acute power crisis in the state, he said that the State requires 1,400 MW to meet both agriculture and industrial needs. He said that the government was making arrangement to purchase additional 700 MW of power from other States.

Earlier, the Chief Minister visited the weavers colony at Bhandarulanka and Batnapalli in Amalapuram to get first hand information about their problems.
