Chennai, November 13: The dust is yet to settle on the land controversy relating to Karnataka High Court Chief Justice PD Dinakaran, but a storm is brewing over another land row.
The one-main commission constituted to probe into allegations of land-grabbing against owners of a luxury farmhouse frequented by AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa at Siruthavur in Kancheepuram district is all set to submit its report. But Justice KP Sivasubramaniam, who heads the inquiry panel, has expressed his indignation against both the government and the political parties for dragging it into their spat.
Upset at being caught in a political crossfire and with remarks over the delay by the commission in completing its work, Justice Sivasubramaniam has put the blame on the government and the other parties before it.
He said the state government had delayed the proceedings by not making crucial land records available and by not acting on his request to obtain the Supreme Court’s clarification on where the report should be submitted once the probe is completed.
“Due to pendency of an appeal in the Supreme Court, I cannot file the report with the government as is the usual practice. Though I gave the directions to all parties, including the government, in March this year, no clarification has yet been sought on this,” he said.
