New Delhi: Govt. of India deactivated over 11.44 lakh Permanent Account Number (PAN) Cards which was identified as fake.
This was informed by Minister of State for Finance, Santosh Kumar Gangwar in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. “As on July 27, 11,44,211 PANs have been identified and deleted or deactivated in cases where multiple PANs were found allotted to one person,” the minister said.
It may be noted that as per government rules, a person cannot possess more than one PAN card. During the process of identifying, Govt. also found that many PAN cards are in the name of persons who do not exist.
In order to check whether your PAN is still valid or not, follow the below steps:
- Visit Income Tax e-filing website https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/Services/KnowYourPanLinkGS.html
- Enter all your basic personal details asked on the page and then click on “Submit” button.
- Enter the OTP which you will get on your registered mobile and then click on “Validate” button.
- After this, you will be taken to the page where you can check the validity of your PAN Card.
