Govt decides to extend relief package to the inhabitants of DZ

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Mines and Geology Ms Galla Aruna Kumari today said the government has decided to extend a relief package to the inhabitants of danger zone at Mangampet barytes mine in YSR district (Kadapa) who were agitating on the long pending issue since March 12. In a statement here, the Minister said the Mining operations were totally stopped due to the agitation.

The Minister convened a meeting with officials and the villagers before deciding about the relief package and said 1109 families will be benefited from it. The benefits to get from the package included providing employment on outsourcing basis to 230 eligible persons of danger zone or one time benefit of payment of Rs 2.2 lakh per family or supply of 300 metric tones of A-grade barytes ore per person per month after the receipt of cost of the material as per the Coprporation rates, the Minister said. The Minister said an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh per family was decided for the families displaced perior to the year 2007.

An amount of Rs 63,000 will be extended to the persons opted for employment towards subsistence allowance and transportation charges, she said. She further said an amount of Rs 750 per month should be paid by the corporation for widows, destitutes, physically handicapped and orphans as per the NRR 2007.

Financial assistance for the DWACRA Groups existing at Magampet will be extended through DRDA, YSR District. The compensation or exgratia for the RR-II centre will be disbursed during the second week of April, 2012 after rectifying the anomalies. Mr Gunipati Ramiah, Ex-MP who led the agitation, has agreed to call off the agitataion and withdraw all the pending cases in the High court, the Minister added. UNI
