(Siasat News) In order to keep GHMC away from legal complications in connection with unauthorized building constructions, Govt. has decided to amend section 452 of Municipal Act of 1955. This amendment will provide powers to GHMC to dismantle unauthorized constructions if satisfactory justifications are not provided by the builders within the stipulated time. It has been observed that for unauthorized constructions builders approach the courts and get stay orders. The proposed amendments will not provide this facility.
Govt. also proposed to form “Building Tribunal”. These decisions were taken at the meeting of the cabinet held yesterday in Secretariat.
Briefing the newsmen after the cabinet meeting, Information Minister, Ms. D.K. Aruna told that the tenure of office of 72 Fast track courts had ended on 31st March 2013. Cabinet ratified the action taken by CM for the extension. Govt. has also approved guidelines for the release of 390 prisoners on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.
