In order to stop political interference, Govt. has decided to stop frequent transfers of Inspectors of police. It has resolved to ensure that a police inspector completes at least two years service in a particular police station before he is transferred.
A senior official of the DGP office told that Govt. has taken this step in order to prevent transfers of police officers on the basis of periodical political interventions. There were complaints that efficient police officers are being kept away from important positions and they are being posted to unimportant posts.
It has now been decided that police officers won’t be transferred frequently. He has to complete at least two years service at a particular post. The officer told that some of the inspectors of police got postings of their choice based on the recommendations of their political bosses and stuck to their posts for five or more years. In order to curb this practice, Govt resolved not to allow any police official to continue in the same place for more than two years.
