Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy today released 1.32 lakh fish seed into Shamirpet lake on the outskirts of the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Yadav took a dig at the previous governments for ignoring the welfare of the fishermen’s community in Telangana region. The fishermen were completely neglected during the rule of united Andhra Pradesh, he charged. While the previous government had released only Rs one crore for the fishermen’s welfare, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has allocated Rs 101 crore for their welfare, claimed.
The State Government will uplift the fishermen community in the State by providing fish seed and transportation facility, the minister said, adding every effort was being made to ensure welfare of the fishing community in Telangana State. Mahender Reddy said KCR was giving free distribution of fish seed for providing employment opportunity to the fishermen. A total of 51 lakh of fish seed was being let into the lakes, water bodies and tanks in Ranga Reddy district, the minister said. (NSS)
