The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy stated that state government was committed to provide 50 percent reservation to women in local bodies’ elections.
The Chief Minister made this assurance on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’.
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, several women ministers children and girls tied Rakhi to Kiran Kumar Reddy at Camp Office here.
The Home Minister Mrs Sabitha Indra Reddy, the Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare Mrs Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Mahila Congress President Ganga Bhavani, GHMC former Mayor Mrs Banda Kartheeka Chandra Reddy and congress workers tied the Rakhi to the Chief Minister and got his blessings.
Speaking on the occasion, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that appointment of women in the key posts was indicating the state government’s priority to the women. A woman was appointed as Chief Secretary to the Government and APPSC Chairman. Interest free loans to 1.4 crore SHG women, SRinidhi and Sri Shakthi Bhavans were some of initiatives of the state government for the welfare of the women in the state, he added. (NSS)
