Govt. to close down Erring Engineering Colleges

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao today reiterated his government’s firm stance of closing down all private engineering or other professional colleges, which try to exploit the fee reimbursement scheme for students.

The Chief Minister made this amply clear while replying to clarifications sought by the Opposition members on the fee reimbursement scheme for students in the Telangana Assembly on Thursday. Referring to comments of MIM Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, who took strong objection to the Chief Minister’s assertion of closing down private institutions, if need be, KCR clarified that he had only hinted at closing down those institutions which tried to exploit the fee reimbursement scheme intended for students.

KCR said it was the responsibility of the government to protect the interests of the students and the fee reimbursement and scholarships were intended for the benefit of the students and not meant for the institutions. If the private institutions try to exploit the scheme for their own interest, the government would unhesitatingly close down those institutions, he declared. (NSS)
