Anantapur, November 01: Rural Development Minister Dokka Manikyavara Prasad on Monday stated that the government would take all steps to check migration of farm labour to cities in search of employment.
Talking to media persons after participating in District Review Meeting at Anantapur Collectors Office, Manikyavara Prasad said the government would implement Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in effective manner to prevent migration of agriculture labour, who were affected due to drought and provide man days mandatorily to them. The government would take all steps to help farm labour in drought hit areas and reschedule their loans, he said.
Admitting that funds allotted for welfare schemes were being misused, he said that the government would take stringent steps and punish the guilty officials after ordering a probe into the entire issue. “All steps will be taken to prevent misappropriation of funds,” he stated.
Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath, MLAs Payyavula Kesav, Gurnath Reddy, Madhusudhan Gupta and district officials were present in the meeting.
