Govt buildings allowed to use four times more FSI: Bhujbal

Mumbai, April 09: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal today rejected the charges that government proposes to undertake the “Mantralaya redevelopment project” under the provisions of SRA scheme.

It was charged that the government is eyeing to redevelop Mantralaya under the Slum Rehabilitation scheme as it can avail four times more Floor Space Index (FSI) than the regular 1.33.

However, Bhujbal told reporters that the government buildings are allowed to use?four times more FSI than the permissible 1.33.

“If the government wanted to use Slum Rehabilitation Authority provisions for additional FSI it would have approached the SRA directly,” Bhujbal said.

He said his department has not applied for clearances to any of the municipal authorities under the SRA scheme.

Bhujbal, who heads PWD said three tenders worth Rs 1,475 crore have been received from IL&FS, India Bulls and DB Realty.

The cabinet sub-committee on infrastructure of which the Chief Minister is the head, is yet to meet and take a decision on the fate of the project, he said.

FSI means Floor Space Index, which is the ratio between the built up area allowed and plot area available.
