New Delhi, July 16: The government will borrow 1.1 trillion rupees ($22.6 billion) more in the remainder of the fiscal first half that began on April 1, Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor Shyamala Gopinath said on Thursday.
She further added that the government’s borrowing from the market in the 2009/10 fiscal year will be conducted in a non-disruptive manner.
She was responding to questions from reporters before attending a meeting to revise the borrowing schedule for the first-half of the fiscal year that began April 1.
The updated budget, announced earlier this month, raised the target to 4.51 trillion rupees (USD 93 billion) for 2009/10 from 3.62 trillion rupees announced in the interim budget in February.
