Govt answerable to judiciary: Nitish

Patna, July 19: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said his government was only answerable to the judiciary and the state legislature regarding a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities to the tune of Rs 11,412 crore in development schemes in Bihar.

“The state government is answerable to the Hon’ble High Court and the two Houses of the state legislature… We are not going to speak anything on it,” Kumar told reporters when approached for his comment.

The Patna High Court has recently ordered a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities to the tune of Rs 11,412 crore in execution of development and welfare schemes in the state between April 1, 2002 and March 31, 2008.

The opposition parties have demanded dismissal of the state government if the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister did not resign over the issue.
