Govt accepts resignations of CC Reddy, CS Rao

Hyderabad, April 20: The state government has, at last, accepted the resignations of its adviser on foreign investments and NRI affairs CC Reddy and information technology advisor CS Rao on Monday. Though sources refused to divulge the status of the resignations of the other advisers who include KVP Ramachandra Rao, they did not rule out a decision sooner than later.

Reddy and Rao resigned along with other government advisors on instructions of N Kiran Kumar Reddy soon after he took over as the chief minister in December last. But a dithering chief minister delayed a decision on the resignations for more than three months. It is learnt that both CC Reddy and CS Rao have written separate letters this month to the chief minister reminding him that their resignations were pending with him and sought to be relieved immediately.

The sources said Rao met the chief minister recently and expressed his uninterest to continue in the post as he wanted to retire while CC Reddy dissociated himself from the Congress party itself to join his relative and Kadapa former MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Apart from the two, KVP Ramachandra Rao, D Somayajulu, Peter Hassan, Stanley Babu and a few other advisors also resigned in December and have been waiting for the chief minister’s decision. All the advisors are the friends or close associates of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

The advisers, who have been in the government since 2004, assisted the YSR government in shaping the policies and taking several key decisions. Even after YSR’s death in a helicopter crash in September 2009, they continued to play a key role in the government headed by K Rosaiah.
