Hyderabad: Terming the Governor ESL Narasimhan’s address to the joint sitting of Telangana State Legislature today as a ‘worthless one’, the opposition parties alleged that the State Government made the Governor to speak ‘lies’.
The Budget Session of the Telangana State Legislature began with the Governor’s address. After his speech, the opposition parties—Congress, BJP, CPI, CPM and YSRCP have alleged that the Governor’s address was similar to the Chief Minister’s regular speech. They have asserted that there was nothing new in the address.
Speaking at the Assembly media, the Congress Deputy Floor leader G Chinna Reddy has alleged that the Governor’s address was insipid. He said, “we expected a lot from the Governor’s speech as an opposition party, but it is unenthusiastic”. The Governor has said in his speech that the growth rate of the state was 11.7, but in reality it was not so. The actual agriculture growth rate was minus 0.4, but the Governor has shown it as 0.8 percent. The government has shown wrong growth rate even in industrial sector as against the real development. He alleged that there was no mention of employment, fees reimbursement and drinking water in rural areas, in the Governor’s speech.
Describing the government as an anti-rural and anti-farmer, another senior member T Jeevan Reddy alleged that it was terrible that the government has failed to give priority to the drought conditions prevailing in the state whereas it has given priority to ‘dustbins’. He said that the Governor’s address failed to mention about identified drought mandals. He alleged that it was shameful on the part of the government to mention about the Godavari projects forgetting the fact that the recent agreements with the Maharashtra government were in continuation of earlier agreements. “More so, the present government deceived the farmers by entering into an MOU with the Maharshtra government for 148 meters height for the Kaleswaram project as against the earlier agreement for 152 meters height and changed the project as lift irrigation project instead of gravity one”, he said. The address also failed to mention about the 12 percent reservation to tribal and Telangana movement’s martyrs. He said “the Chief Minister has no right to rule the state as he has failed to identify the martyrs”.
MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy alleged that the Governor’s address was a ‘KCR Mark speech’ and it showed ‘Bangaru Telangana’ cinema. He asserted that the government made the Governor to speak ‘lies’ in the Legislature and silenced the opposition parties with the Assembly Rules Committee’s new decisions.(NSS)
