Governor wants KCR, Naidu to end differences

Hoping that the New Year would bring growth and prosperity in both the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday announced that he would soon convene a meeting between Chief Ministers K Chandrashekar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu to resolve contentious issues.

Speaking to media persons after meeting school students, politicians and other guests at Darbar Hall on the occasion of New Year on Thursday, the Governor said that both the State were moving on the path of growth. He also claimed that both the Chief Ministers have a good vision for their states. However, he admitted that Telangana and AP were having differences on some issues like conduct of joint EAMCET exams. Stating that there was no response to the meetings which he held with the representatives of both the States, he hoped all contentious issues could be resolved through fruitful negotiations. He said that he would invite both KCR and Naidu for a meeting at Raj Bhavan to ensure that they end their differences and work for the development of their respective States.

With regard to the seven mandals of Khammam district which were merged with Andhra Pradesh, the Governor said that he was in receipt of representation from the local MLAs who complained that although they are members of Telangana Assembly, some areas in their constituency has now become a part of Andhra Pradesh. He said he had referred the matter to the Election Commission of India and the Centre seeking a solution.

Earlier, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Deputy CMs Dr T Rajaiah and Mahmood Ali, several ministers, MLAs and other public representatives met the Governor and wished him on the occasion of New Year. (INN)
