Governor ESL Narasimhan today directed Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty and other senior officials to prepare a clear and viable CSR policy for the State to ensure speedy supply of benefits under various schemes to the needy and poor sections. He also directed that tangible benefits in health and education sectors be made hassle free.
The Governor held a meeting with the officials of Health and Education departments. The Governor directed that all necessary measures should be taken for the progress and sustainable development of the successor States as per the provisions of the AP State Reorganisation Act.
Earlier, the senior officers from State Reorganisation Committee gave a presentation before the Governor today at Raj Bhavan on various issues related to special development package and incentives under Higher Education and medical institutions and new infrastructure facilities to be provided in the residuary Andhra Pradesh as per provisions of the Act. The officers also presented a detailed report on the facilities to be provided under the special category state status in comparison with the other state’s ongoing packages, identification of backward areas and also special packages sanctioned to other States like Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and other regions in the country. Various indicators for the backwardness of the region and other issues were discussed at the meeting today.
Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Ajay Mishra, informed the Governor on the issues pertaining to Education sector under Schedule 13. The officials have informed that setting up of new universities, a hospital on the lines of AIIMS, 4000 MW NTPC plant, metro rail project for Vizag, Vijayawada–Guntur-Tenali and a new railway zone in the residuary Andhra Pradesh are envisaged under the Act.
