Tirumala, January 31: Annamayya Swara Latarchana audio CD was released by Governor ESL Narasimhan here Saturday. The first CD of Annamacharya Sankeertans rendered by singing legend Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar was presented to Chief Minister K Rosaiah. Later, Annamayya Swara Latarchana CDs were presented to Madhya Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur, Lata and TTD Chairman DK Audikesavulu Naidu.
Speaking on the occasion, Lata described music as a powerful medium for promoting world peace. Expressing her gratitude to the TTD for bringing out Annamacharya Sankeertan CDs rendered by her, she said: “`I pray to Lord Venkateswara to provide me strength to sing in His presence.’’ In his welcome speech, TTD Chairman Audikesavulu Naidu urged the State Government to appoint Lata as TTD court musician. A couple of Keertans from the CD were played for the audience.
Lata and her sister Usha Mangeshkar were felicitated on the occasion. Ministers P Ramachandra Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao, TTD Special Officer AV Dharma Reddy, District Collector V Seshadri and other officials were present.
Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated a guest house of Nagarjuna Cements in GNC area.
