Governor lays foundation stone

Hyderabad, October 03: With an intention to render medical assistance to the public at large and the poor in particular, NMDC, a Government of India enterprise, has joined hands with the Indian Red Cross society, Andhra Pradesh state branch, to build a Red Cross- NMDC Centre for the Indian systems of medicine at Banjara Hills here.

Governor Narayan Datt Tiwari today laid the foundation stone for the Indian Systems of Medicine complex (site adjacent to Red Cross Institute of yoga and Nature cure on Road number 2 in Banjara Hills) here this evening.

The proposed centre with a built-up area of about 90,000 square feet having 10 floors, would provide medical facilities in five systems of alternative medicines– Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.

It will also have a research centre for these disciplines to enrich these systems medicine scientifically.

The State government has allotted 1,227 square yard plot for the centre.

NMDC chairman-cummanaging director Rana Som who presented a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to the centre, Indian Red Cross society state secretary A Lakshmana Rao and others were present.
