Government will last full term: Raghuveera

Hyderabad, January 04: Revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy is confident that the Congress government will complete its fiveyear term before going for elections in 2014 and will come back to power once again due to its popularity among the poor and the needy.

Talking with reporters here today along with his cabinet colleagues D Sridhar Babu and DK Aruna, he said that there was no immediate threat to the Kiran Kumar Reddy government and ruled out the possibility of midterm elections as predicted by former MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Ridiculing Jaganmohan Reddy for the statement that the emergence of his party would push the Congress to the third place at next elections, Raghuveera Reddy rubbished the remarks as baseless.

He asked Jaganmohan Redy not to hurt the sentiments of people in the State, particularly the poor who benefited from the Congress schemes at the Centre and in the State.

“The Congress in the state will continue to be the most popular government. The competition is only for the second and third positions that should be left to other parties as we continue to rule the hearts of people,” he said.

Raghuveera Reddy said the Congress was paying real tribute to former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy by implementing the schemes introduced by him as per the Congress manifesto.

“Those who want to make his soul happy and ensure development of the state should come up with suggestions instead of making such irresponsible comments.

All the Congress partymen are working to fulfil the wishes of Rajasekhara Reddy and intend to herald ‘Indiramma Rajyam’ in the state as per YSR’s wish,” the minister said.

The minister, however, admitted that there were loopholes in the implementation of some schemes and assured that they would be sorted out shortly.
