‘Government will complete all schemes of YSR’

Hyderabad, November 29: The Congress Government would fulfil all the promises made by the late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and complete all irrigation projects taken up under Jalayagnam in the next four years, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said Saturday.

Inaugurating Vibha Seeds multi-crop seed-conditioning unit at Janampet village, near Jadcherla, in Mahboobnagar district Saturday, Rosaiah said his government would give top priority to farmers and complete all pending projects of Jalayagnam for the benefit of farmers in the State.

“The Vibha Seeds multi-crop seed-conditioning unit will help farmers produce quality crops. We are planning to set up more units depending on the requirement of farmers,’’ he said.

Delivering the key-note address, Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture N Raghuveera Reddy said that hundreds of acres of dry land had been made available for cultivation with the implementation of YSR’s pet scheme of 7-hour free power supply. Explaining about the seed unit, Vidyasagar Parchuri, chairman and managing director of the company, said that at least 10,000 tonnes of seed would be purified and delivered for 90,000 acres while distributing seeds to 30,000 farmers per year. “We have invested Rs 200 crore on the project and it will help in delivering pure seeds to ensure more production of different crops. “As of now, we are planning to supply seeds to 12 crop fields such as paddy, cotton, maize, wheat and others,’’ he added.

Minister for Civil Supplies Jupalli Krishna Rao, Minister for Small-Scale Industries D Aruna and district collector Damayanti were present.
