The government has signed a six month peace deal with the northeast militant outfit, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in Assam on Friday.
“The agreement is a little stricter than the agreement signed earlier with the other groups. Based on our experience we have made it stringent and they will be moving into the camps as and when the camps are ready,” said Joint Secretary (Northeast) in the Home Ministry, Shambhu Singh.
The Additional Director General of Police (ADG) of Assam, A P Raut, said that a list of 579 cadres has been given, 40 arms, including A K rifles have been deposited, and they are hoping to get more arms before the next round of meeting.
“An agreement has been signed between the NDFB, the Assam government and the central government, on suspension of operation, that will be valid for sixmonths and after that it would be reviewed again. There will be two camps made for the cadres, one at Panbari in Dhubri district and the other at Udalguri district.
The NDFB chief Ranjan Daimary said that he was happy with the signing of the peace agreement and hoped that this will help them resolve the problems through a political dialogue.
“We have signed a ceasefire agreement and we hope that now we can find ways and means to resolve the conflict through political dialogue,” said Daimary. (ANI)
