Hyderabad, May 20: A revamp of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) administration is on the cards. Official sources on Thursday indicated that the government may appoint a new executive officer and revive the TTD Trust Board.
IYR Krishna Rao, the present TTD EO, is likely to be replaced with another IAS officer LV Subramaniam.
Orders to this effect are likely to be issued after Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy returns from a visit to Delhi later this week.
Hinting at the revival of the TTD Trust Board, the sources said, the government may first appoint the Chairman and later, nominate the other members.
Among the front-runners for the post of the chairman is Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao.
The Board was scrapped and a specified authority was put in place during Kiran Kumar Reddy’s predecessor K Rosaiah’s tenure. The specified authority is headed by principal secretary to the Chief Minister J Satyanarayana.
Spl team to probe sexual abuse case
Police on Thursday constituted a special team to probe the sexual harassment of a 13-year-old student of the TTD’s Veda Patashala in Dharmagiri on the Tirumala Hills, a day after the incident came to light.
The boy’s parents had lodged a complaint with the police on Wednesday after their pleas to the TTD EO IYR Krishna Rao and Veda Patashala’s principal Ramamurthy fell on deaf ears.
In their complaint, they named three senior students of the school — Mahesh, Avinash and Chakravarthy — and accused them of sexually abusing their child. The police, who booked cases under Section 377 of the IPC and also under the Ragging (prevention) Act against the trio, revealed that they had also registered a case against Ramamurthy.
Tirumala DSP Umamamaheswar Sharma, who is investigating the case, said the accused will be arrested soon.
It is learnt that the investigating team has asked the TTD vigilance department to submit its records from 1996 onwards including any reports on similar incidents.
