Government has become deaf: Anna Hazare

Ralegan Siddhi, December 20: Gandhian Anna Hazare on Tuesday outrightly rejected the Lokpal draft prepared by the government and said that he will go on a three day fast starting from December 27.

“The government is not serious to fight corruption. Its intentions on Lokpal are at all not clear,” Hazare said addressing mediapersons here.

“The Lokpal report prepared by governmnt is nothing but an eye wash,” he added.

The anti-corruption crusader made it clear that he will go his proposed fast starting from December 27 to press for a stronger Lokpal.

He reiterated that he will also launch a three day ‘jail bharo’ agitation starting from December 30. Then Hazare has planned to tour the poll bound states.

“I will make voters aware of Lokpal Bill and the stance of Congress. I will request them that what is the use of keeping those people in power who do not want to remove corruption from the country?” he said.

“The country should get rid of corruption. The govt has become deaf as it is not hearing the voice of the people,” Hazare said.

On an emotional note, Anna asked countrymen to extend support his campaign once more like they had, earlier. “This is not just an Anna movement. It is the call of the people. It is a national movement,” he said.

“The people of the country will teach a lesson to this government,” he added.

The Gandhian said he will keep fighting for a stringer Lokpal till his last breath.

The government has prepared the final draft which has also been okayed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Also today, the Union government decided to extend the Winter Session of Parliament by three days for discussion and passage of the contentious Lokpal Bill.
