Hyderabad, October 16: The State Government has decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court for a review of its order on Oct 9 that Hyderabad should remain a free zone in regard to implementation of GO 610 in the police department. It will ask the Additional Solicitor-General to appear on behalf of the state government.
The decision was taken by the chief minister after he discussed the issue with legal experts. Those who attended the meeting included Chief Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy, advocate general Seetharama Murthy. Law secretary S Appa Rao and officer in charge of GO 610 implementation Vijayakumar.
The government believes that non-use of the term `Free zone’ in the Presidential Order will make sufficient ground to file the petition. At an all-party meeting to be convened on Oct 19, the views of other parties will be taken.
Earlier in the day, at the State Cabinet meeting, a few ministers hailing from Telangana region raised the issue to which the chief minister responded favourably.
The ministers reportedly expressed the desire that the government file a review petition in the apex court immediately and take the wind out of the sails of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) which is keen on filing a such petition soon.
