‘My government is determined to root out terrorism from Bangladesh’: Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka: Amid of the heavy gunfire and explosions which rang out on Saturday morning at an upscale restaurant at the heart of Bangladesh’s diplomatic zone. Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina said she was determined to eradicate terrorism in Bangladesh today after security forces stormed a restaurant where Islamist extremists had taken dozens of diners hostage.

She praised the commandos while addressing the media and said that 13 people have been saved so far in the terror siege in Dhaka.

Two police officers were killed at the start of the siege as they battled the gunmen who were heavily armed with explosives and six gunman had also been killed and one had been captured alive in the dawn raid on the cafe.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack which follows a series of gruesome killings of religious minorities, foreigners and liberal activists in the mainly Muslim nation.

PM Hasina said . “It was an extremely heinous act. What kind of Muslims are these people? They don’t have any religion.”

“People must resist these terrorists. My government is determined to root out terrorism and militancy from Bangladesh.”

No matter how many challenges this country faces, we will evolve as ‘golden Bangladesh’, she added.
