Hyderabad, November 17: Even as the students of Osmania University continued protests through out the day, the state government, after an all-party meeting on Tuesday evening, deferred the decision to tomorrow on what action it wants to take on the demand for making Hyderabad, which is a free zone now, as part of Zone VI.
When students resorted to similar protests yesterday, the government said examinations for recruitment to posts of SIs would be put off in the limits of Hyderabad but would be held as scheduled (Dec 18, 19) in other parts of the same zone (Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Medak, Nizamabad and Mahaboobnagar) as well as in other five zones.
Osmania University Students JAC continued exerting pressure on the government on the Free Zone issue by trying to storm the residences of Union minister S Jaipal Reddy, state home minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy and tried to take out a rally to Secretariat.
Their demand is: put off the examination in the entire Zone VI till the issue is resolved.
After the all-party meeting, Sabita Indra Reddy said: “We will take a decision only after disusing the issue with the chief minister tomorrow.” This included a demand for taking a delegation to Delhi for deletion of Clause 14 which stood in the way of making Hyderabad part of Zone VI.
Earlier in the day, several students were injured when the police used force to disperse them while they tried to storm the residences of the two ministers.
