Sangareddy, September 23: Medak MP and district vigilance and monitoring committee chairman Vijayasanthi flayed the government’s biased attitude in sanctioning funds for development works for leaders of opposition parties.
Presiding over a vigilance and monitoring committee meeting here today, the MP expressed displeasure over the way the governmentis handling things.
‘’I sent proposals worth Rs 5.5 crore to the government for construction of roads in Medak constituency, under the national rural employment guarantee scheme but it is yet to sanction the same,’’ she maintained.
The MP pointed out that the government not only approved the proposals of Congress MP from Zaheerabad but also sanctioned funds. “Doesn’t it amount to partiality,’’ she questioned.
However, the committee co-chairman and Zaheerabad MP Suresh Kumar Shetkar, members Vijay Kumar and Kasinath differed with her. They maintained that the government was working for the welfare of poor like no other government did in the past.
When the MP intervened as to why her proposals were not approved, they advised her to discuss the issue with the minister concerned and get the funds released.
“I wanted to set up drinking water facility at Madaram village in Patancheru industrial area with funds partly from MPLADs and rest from rural water supply department. But there is no response from RWS officials,’’ she lamented.
The meeting also discussed pensions and Deepam gas connections. Responding to the query as to why there were no new pensions, collector Suresh Kumar informed them that new pensions were not granted since 2009.
“Recently we sent proposals for 25,000 pensions to the government. Once they are sanctioned, we will distribute the money,’’ he explained.
Toopran mandal parishad president alleged that the government was sanctioning Deepam connections only to Congress activists.
Narayankhed MLA P Kishta Reddy fumed at officials concerned for failing to complete drinking water scheme at
Peddasankarampet village in his constituency.
Meanwhile all the members demanded that agriculture should also be brought under the purview of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
