UP government to beautify Babri Masjid’s surrounding areas

The areas around the disputed Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi site in Ayodhya will get a fresh look as the Akhlesh Yadav government has chalked out a detailed plan to beautify the place.

As per TOI, the state government has recently sanctioned Rs 76 lakh for the repair and reconstruction of the barricades and some temporary constructions in the vicinity of the site to give it a fresh look.

A senior state government official confirmed that the proposed plan of giving a fresh look to the site would not violate the ‘status quo’ order issued by the SC. The entire work has to be done before March 2016.

The government has also sanctioned Rs 33 lakh for the 3 noiseless generators sets of 124 KVA each to be installed at the disputed site so that proper lighting arrangements could be made.

This is first the attempt by any government since the SC had asked ordered a status quo around 2.75-km disputed site after the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992.
