Government assures support for IPL match in city

Hyderabad, January 31: Sports Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today invited the organisers of Indian Premier League-3 tournament to conduct the inaugural match at Hyderabad on March 12. He assured that the State Government will provide all necessary support to conduct the matches without any hassles.

Speaking to reporters here today, Venkat Reddy said that IPL-3 event organisers did not consult or informed the State Government before shifting the venue for inaugural match from Hyderabad to Mumbai. He stated that Hyderabad with its worldclass sports facilities, is an ideal venue for events like IPL-3 and said that the Government is ready to provide all necessary support for the conduct of the tournaments and other sports events at national and international level. He also urged the agitators not to cause any trouble for the sports events as it would damage the image of Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Rajendra Sanam, who became the first Indian Male Archer to win an Asian Championship called on the Minister along with AP Archery president Ani Kamineni. Sanam is also learnt to have requested the State Government for financial assistance. The officials at the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) were asked to take necessary steps in this regard.
