Government’s ambiguous policy about private schools – Parents worried

The attitude adopted by the Dept. of School Education is causing inconvenience to the parents of private school students. Govt. had threatened that the affiliation of private schools will be discontinued if they do not follow State syllabus. Many private schools are selling books published by private publishers claiming that Govt. text books are not available in the market. The managements of private schools are telling the parents that in case Govt. increases pressure for adopting State syllabus, their children have to purchase Govt. text books separately. Govt. had issued instructions to curb corruption in the form of commissions and also to eradicate irregularities in private schools with an intention to maintain uniform educational standard and had suggested to follow Govt. syllabus but the corrupt officials have given a free hand to private school management.

A few days back a Govt. official took action against two private schools located in Shahalibanda area but many schools are engaged in selling private books. There are reports that District Collector officials are raiding the schools but the official of the Dept. of School Education are keeping quiet.

Reliable sources indicated that Govt. would constitute a task force consisting of the officials of Dept. of Education, Police and Management to review the syllabus taught in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Managements of some private schools have approached the court and they are awaiting the judgment. They will introduce the course according to the court decision.
