Our Governance based on Indian Constitution: Ravi Shankar Prasad

New Delhi: Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, recently in a Conference, spoke on the original text of the Constitution of India and its essence.

He said that “When the Indian constitution was being framed, a debate occurred whether it should be presented just like a book because India was getting free after hundreds of years in many ways and should we incorporate the heritage of India. Ultimately Nandlal Bose, the famous painter from Bengal was commissioned to film the pages of the original constitution, and the ideas which they themselves conveyed.

Further, he showed the original text of the constitution to the audience who attended the conference. The text showed pictures of Vedic life in India on the Citizenship part of the Constitution.

In the Chapter on Fundamental Rights, the Picture depicted Lord Ram returning to Ayodhya with Seeta and Lakshmana.
In the Chapter on Directive Principles of State policy, Lord Krishna giving ‘Upadesh’ about Gita in Mahabharata.

The Minister said that there are many pictures of great personalities like Rani Jhansi, Kabir Das, Maharana Pratap, Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose. The Minister also said that we have Akbar but not Aurangzeb.

He further added that Constitution of India is the main basis of the governance.

Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned that “If at all, hypothetically speaking, the Constitution was to be framed today and the Constituent assembly decides to have same sketches in the constitution, will it be allowed?
