New Delhi: Internet search giant Google has paid a special homage to former president A P J Abdul Kalam by displaying a black ribbon on its homepage.
This solemn mark of respect is indicative of the universal appeal that Kalam had on people, especially with the youth, residents of small towns and urban folk.
Google is known for remembering past icons and marking important occasions and anniversaries through its characteristic doodles.
On Google’s home page, the black ribbon has been placed below the search tab, and on running the mouse, it reads, “In memory of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam”.
Tributes have been pouring in from home and abroad for India’s “missile man”, whose life inspired countless Indians.
His funeral will be held in Rameswaram. Tamil Nadu, at 11 a.m. today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries are expected to attend the funeral. (ANI)
