Google Fiber to end free-internet service in Kansas City

Kansas City: Google’s fiber service in the United States, providing free broadband internet and cable television after paying a one-time construction fee would soon be dropped in the Kansas City, its first market.

In its place are two new plans are on the cards. Firstly, a faster option, Fiber 100, which would costs USD 50 per month with no construction fee or contract and a broader perspective to wire economically underserved neighbourhoods for free, recode.net reported.

The Google fiber service was first introduced to the Kansas City metropolitan area, including 20 Kansas City area suburbs within the first three years.

Google Fiber announced expansion to Austin, Texas and Provo, Utah in April 2013, and subsequent expansions in 2014 and 2015 to Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Nashville, Salt Lake City, and San Antonio. (ANI)
