California: In its latest step towards safeguarding the rights of an image creator or owner, Google has announced that it will give rights-related image metadata in Google Images.
The he step is a result of Google’s collaboration with photo industry consortium CEPIC, and IPTC, the global technical standards body for the news media.
Google notes that it is difficult to know the creator of images on the web and who might actually own the rights to the image. For this, Creator and Credit metadata, whenever present, to images on Google Images will now be added.
If you browse through tons of images online and want to know the copyright and licensing information, simply click on Image Credits link to view the metadata. Google will also be adding Copyright Notice metadata.
