Hyderabad, July 09: It’s here and yet it is not there. Yes, we are talking about the rainfall, which was evasive throughout the day in the city. Though the southwest monsoon arrived on June 30 there were only showers now and then but no rainfall worth the name.
The meteorological department, for good or bad, has some news to offer. “This situation is likely to prevail for another two days and the temperature in the city is expected to hover around 28-30 degree Celsius.
The monsoon is active over the northern Telangana region and going by the data it would take some more days for the city to expect a rainfall,’’ Met Department Director Satyakumar said, when contacted. He said that the rainfall recorded on Wednesday was just 0.33 mm till 5:30 pm.
Denizens, however, could find some respite in the coming days as the Met department forecasts that the mercury might further come down.
“The maximum temperature on Thursday and Friday would be around 33 degree Celsius while the mercury might drop to a minimum of 22 degree Celsius,’’ Satyakumar said and added that the sky was likely to be cloudy.
Even as denizens heaved a sigh of relief with the mercury dropping, the thick cloudy sky did not result in rainfall shattering their expectations.
