Microsoft’s latest Windows 8 and 8.1 is apparently having a hard time to compete with its own predecessor Windows 7 which reportedly saw an increase in its user base last month.
A study by Net Applications, a firm which tracks a range of marketshare data, the pool of people using Windows 7 grew to 46.6 percent, up from 46.4 percent, by the end of last month.
According to Fox News, the firm found that of all computers running the Windows OS, Windows 7 system was installed on 51.3 percent and about 34.4 percent of those machines had Windows XP.
Recently, the software giant had announced that Windows XP and Windows 7 users were much more likely to suffer malware infections than Windows 8 users, which was testified later with the discovery of zero-bug vulnerability in the older OS.
However, users still swear by the good old Windows 7 operating system as they are put off by the tablet-like interface of the new Windows 8 and its later tweaked version. (ANI)
