Good Governance key to progress: KTR

“Good Governance” will be the buzz word for the first Government in Telangana State to begin functioning from June 2, according to Sircilla MLA K Taraka Rama Rao.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, KTR said Chief Minister-in-waiting K Chandrasekhara Rao is all set to offer people-friendly ruling and employee-friendly governance. KTR, who is likely to take over as IT and Industries Minister in the new government said it was up to KCR to decide who will be in his cabinet. “I do not know whether I will be in the cabinet or not. Being the Chief Minister KCR will have discretionary powers to choose his team, he said.
Declining to comment or agree that he may get IT and Industries departments, KTR said, “Some newspapers and electronic media houses are speculating on portfolios, but we do not know. It is up to the Chief Minister-in-waiting to decide and finalise his team members and allot suitable portfolios”, he said.
Avoiding comment on MIM’s reluctance to join KCR Cabinet, which is said to have offered two berths, KTR said the new government will focus on good governance. “The people of the region gave a mandate to us and now we have a great responsibility to cater to their needs”, KTR told mediapersons who met him. There might be a few changes in the yet-to-be- formed Cabinet which is ought to offer quality services and live up to the expectations of the people whose dreams of statehood coming true now, he added.
Asked how the TRS government would maintain relations with the Centre to be ruled by the BJP, KTR said during the elections political parties indulge in criticizing each other. But now, the governments as part of their ruling should go with each other and take the people along in progress. He also cited that the BJP Government in Gujarat maintained good relations with the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre. “Now it is no problem for us to get adequate funds from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We will maintain even better relations with the Modi government and if he fails to help us then we will think of next program to overcome the problem. (NSS)
