“According to the Indian Aviation-2014 Report, India has the potential to become the third largest aviation market by 2020 and the largest by 2030. There is a large untapped potential for growth due to the fact that access to aviation is still a dream for nearly 99.5 per cent of its population” Prof. M.Potharaju, Registrar, GITAM University opinioned. He participated as a chief guest in the Aeronautical Engineering Broacher and film inauguration program at GITAM University, Hyderabad Campus on Monday. In his speech, by quoting the above repot, said, “Civil aviation industry in India is experiencing a new ear of expansion driven by factor such as Low Cost Carriers (LCC), modern airports, FDI in domestic airlines, cutting edge information technology intervention, growing emphasis on regional connectivity etc.” Basing on this information, any one can assume that, there is a good future for Aeronautical Engineering, the Registrar added.
“In the coming days, there will be the good demand for Aeronautical Engineers. To address the forthcoming challenges the Union Government also planning to set up a separate Civil Aviation University to produce manpower in the aviation sector” Prof. Ch.Sanjay, Director, GITAM Hyderabad Campus said.
First Aerospace Special Economic Zone located Hyderabad is proposed to meet the needs of aerospace and defence sectors, DVVSR Varma, Residential Director, GITAM University told on the occasion. It is one of major advantage to the aeronautical students to get good opportunities, he said.
Dr. N.V.Swamy Naidu, HoD, Department of Aeronautical Engineering, GITAM University explained a length about the labs, qualified & rich experienced faculty and infrastructural facilities. The departmental facilities like Aircraft Structures Lab, Aircraft Systems Lab, Aircraft Maintenance & Practice Lab, Computational Structural Analysis Lab, Aircraft Materials & Production Lab, Aeronautical Engineering Workshop Lab, Simulator Lab (Boing 737-200) and Fully Equipped Departmental library etc. are catering the needs of the aeronautical engineering students at GITAM, he added.
