Gold, silver drops further on stockists offering

Mumbai, December 09: Gold and silver prices succumbed further at the bullion market here today due to sustained offering by stockists as well as lack of local buying interest amidst lower overseas advices.

Standard gold (99.5 per cent purity) declined by Rs 100 per 10 grams to close at Rs 20,430 from overnight closing level of Rs 20,530.

Pure gold (99.9 per cent purity) also fell by a similar margin of Rs 100 per 10 grams to finish at Rs 20,530 as compared with Rs 20,630 previously.

Silver ready (.999 fineness) slumped by Rs 420 per kg to end at Rs 44,540 from yesterday’s closing level of Rs 44,960.

In New York, gold for February delivery retreated USD 25.80 or 1.8 per cent to USD 1,383.20 an ounce on the Comex division of NYMEX. Silver also lost by USD 1.52 to 28.25 an ounce.
