Surpassing all the previous records the gold price on Thursday touched the Rs. 31,035-mark per 10 grams.
Prices of the gold rose by Rs. 290 to Rs. 31,035 per 10 grams in New Delhi, surpassing the previous record of Rs. 30,750 on June 19. Gold prices rose by Rs. 135 to Rs. 30155 in Mumbai while in Kolkata it increased by Rs. 235 to Rs. 30,960. In south gold prices rose by Rs. 270 to Rs. 30,685 per 10 grams in Chennai.
Gold sales are expected to fall 40 percent to 200 tonnes during the upcoming wedding season.
