Gold futures climb 0.83 per cent on firm global cues

New Delhi: Gold prices rose by 0.83 per cent to Rs 29,135 per 10 grams in futures trading today as speculators built up fresh positions in evening session, tracking a firm trend overseas.

The exchange remained closed in the morning session for ‘Ram Navami’.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in far-month June moved up by Rs 239, or 0.83 per cent to Rs 29,135 per 10 grams in business turnover of 1,338 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in April month contracts was trading higher by Rs 213, or 0.74 per cent to Rs 28,915 per 10 grams in 41 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in gold prices at futures trade to a firm trend overseas. Globally, gold rose 0.49 per cent to USD 1,259.10 an ounce in New York.
